The Farewell...

Jerry is starting a new chapter in his life...he has taken a job with Army Human Resources Command, so he had to close the last chapter with a farewell. He was honored with a lunch at the O'Club at Bolling AFB. As you can see the place was packed! Many people were very sad to see him go...(to include me!!)...but as most of you know with this new job comes a move to Kentucky, so I'll get over losing my driver...Kentucky, here we come!!!

The power ties are in the house!!

All the senior level people he worked for spoke and had some very nice things to say and some funny storied to tell...Mr. Wong...

...Mr. Kuhn....

...and, of ocurse, Mr. Huntington...

He got some very nice farewell gifts.

His turn on the floor...

The girls...LaAnna's life savers...I don't know what I'd do without them!

And of course the photographer, A.P. She is the best, just ask her!!

Well, on to the next adventure!!!

Jerry's good buddy Otha was having his farewell at the same time...all the good ones go at once!!

Winterfest 2009

So, what do you think it was like to travel from Baltimore Maryland to Gatlinburg, Tennessee with 36 teenagers?? It was FABULOUS!! We had a great time from the start to the finish. Most of you know that Jerry leds a teen small group at our church on Sunday nights, so we went with them, about 8 other adults, the kids from our second teen group at church, a small group from Bowie joined us on our bus, and 12,000 of our closest friends and family. We all spent the weekend in Gatlinburg. The theme for the conference was "Love God, Love Others" (L1, L2).

As you will see from the pictures there was lots going on. We had guest speakers, we saw skits, there was lots of singing, we had free time, we had devotional time, we had lots of learning to Love God and Love Others. I don't think I can put into words how great the experience was for both of us and truly do it justice.

Check out the pictures and see for yourself...

The green flag says, "Fred is that you?" So, the kids spent the better part of the weekend looking for Fred...and they found him!!

We even had some snow!!

And a christian rock concert...December Radio.

The adults and some sort of quite time...

The trip home...

If you ever have the opportunity to go with a group of teens to Winterfest you should take that trip. Jerry and I had a wonderful time with our young people, we would make this trip again in a heart beat! I don't think you could find a more uplifting way to spend a weekend! Try it!!

Valentine's Weekend Part 3

OK, so I think Sunday was the busiest day of all!! After church we had a nice meal with family and friends. There was some wild horse riding going on...
Then after an afternoon of fun and friends at home, we went back to church and following evening services we had our annual Chili cook off. Another great event and great food!!

This is only a small sampling of all the food that was there!!!

So, after we all ate, visited and the chili was judged we headed home to get some much needed rest. The next morning we all headed out to the mall to do a little shopping and take care of some errands. After we had lunch April, Maxine and Tripp had to get back on the road...so they took Ronnie back to Ft. Meade and started back to Alabama. We enjoyed our time we got to spend with them and hope they will get to come back again! Jerry and I have been truly blessed with great friends and family.

Valentine's Day Part 2

So, on Saturday evening the Polished Cornerstones (our girls group at church) hosted a "We Love You" Dinner. We went and were served a lovely dinner, had great fellowship and the girls sang a song for us at the end! Another great evening!

Valentine's Day Part 1

We had a busy Valentine's Day weekend. We have a new friend, his name is Ronnie Clements. Ronnie is a student at Ft. Meade and he has been going to church with us. So, this weekend his family came up from Alabama to visit him and they all stayed with us. We had April (his wife) and Tripp (his little boy) and Maxine (a family friend). We had a great time!! Saturday morning Jerry took everyone downtown to take in a few sights.

As you can see from the pictures...great fun was had by all!!! To be continued...
